Asking for feedback

Your chance to share your lightning talks with your fellow Club members are also your way of receiving feedback and learning how to improve.

As you prepare for your Lightning Talk, consider what kind of feedback you are interested to receive.

Do you want to get better at delivering presentations? Do you want to look more confident and engage the audience better? Or do you want to have very impressive visual aid in your presentation?

Think about it- so that people can better focus their feedback on the area you want to practice.

Common challenges

Presentation Topic Depth and Focus

"Should I focus deeply on a topic or should I explain it lightly?" If I talk about a topic too deep, the audience might not understand me. But If I talk about a topic too lightly, they might get bored.

Recommendation: Gauge your audience's experience level by asking questions. This helps you tailor your presentation to your audience. You naturally do this for 1-on-1 conversations. It is a give (share information) and take (ask about their curiosity and understanding).

Now you have to practice it for a bigger group.
